2015 Stigma Conference

The 6th Annual International Conference on Stigma was held at Howard University Blackburn Center on Friday November 20, 2015. The theme was, “Looking Inward, Moving Forward.” This was an action packed day of keynotes, plenary sessions, panels, workshops, networking, entertainment and more. The event included a Keynote by Hydeia Broadbent, a showing of the documentary, “Women at Risk, Black Women and the HIV/AIDS Epidemic” as well as a panel , “It’s a Different World: #AnyoneCanGetIt 2.0 Breaking the Stigma IN the Black Community,” featureing Joell Royal, Maranda Ward, Mary Bowman, and Hydeia Broadbent. David Fawcett, Mark King, and David Watt also led a panel, “Not Alone: Insights for Individuals Dealing with Stigma and Shame.” Howard University’s Afro Blue did a vocal performance to kick off the event. Top funders included Gilead Sciences, and DC Health.
