2013 Stigma Conference

The 4th Annual International Conference on Stigma was held at Howard University Blackburn Center on Friday November 22, 2013. This was an action packed day of keynotes, plenary sessions, panels, workshops, networking, entertainment and more. The event included a Keynote by Jeanne White Ginder, HIV Activist and mother of Ryan White. The morning was filled by a large plenary entitled, “Government and Community Interventions to Reduce Stigma,” which was moderated by Lisa Fager Bediako. A second plenary and five breakout sessions followed, including one moderated by Michael Mancilla entitled, “From the Gay Youth Gang Members of Chinatown to Hospital Halls: HIV, Stigma, and the Unexpected lives of G/L/B/T Youth in DC.” THe Barrie Singers and Promising Futures youth gave performances. Top funders included Gilead Sciences, Community Education Group, and DCCFAR.
