
2012 Stigma Conference
The 3th Annual International Conference on Stigma was held at Howard University Blackburn Center on Friday November 30, 2012. This was an action packed day of keynotes, plenary sessions, panels, workshops, networking, entertainment and more. Cynne’ Simpson of ABC 7 and Lisa Fager Bediako co-emceed the event. The event included a Keynote by Jeanne White Ginder, HIV Activist and mother of Ryan White and a plenary session on “Addressing Stigma in Policy and the Community. An International Session featured Dr. Laura Nyblade, Pauline Muchina, and Chinkholal Thangsing among others and a Faith-Based session ws moderated by Linda Scruggs. Short films, “HIV-USA” and “13%” were screened. Promising Futures youth and the O.B.E.Y. Dancers gave performances. Top funders included Gilead Sciences, Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, and AIDS United.
